Austin Eddy is an abstract painter whose works are characterized by their skewed perspectives and dimensional flatness, influenced by Cubism of the early twentieth century. Eddy’s evocative works playfully use brilliant colors, layered textures and abstract planes of light, whilst all the while investigating loss and the fleeting passage of time that is the human condition. Over the past few years his focus has shifted to an exploration of the metaphor of birds and the spaces they occupy, perched on the edge of reality.

Austin Eddy (b. 1986, Boston, MA, USA) lives and works in Brooklyn. He earned his BFA in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2010. Notable recent exhibitions include Kunstverein Heilbronn, Heilbronn (2024); De Brock, Knokke (2024); Eva Presenhuber, Vienna (2024); Berggruen, San Francisco (2023 and 2021); Livie, Zurich (2023 and 2021); Eva Presenhuber, Antiparos and New York (Both 2022); Le Consortium, Dijon (2022) and The Pit, Los Angeles (2021).

The work has always been about things I have seen, felt, or thought. But letting go of that personal narrative and allowing a larger interpretation to take place is the end goal.
