Jerry Zeniuk

According to Zeniuk, colors are not merely carriers of emotion, but their interaction also reflects social and human relationships. Zeniuk became known in the seventies through his participation in the Fundamental Painting show at the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam in 1975. Since then, his paintings developed from monochrome planes towards compositions of contrasting color planes next to each other. Zeniuk’s more recent canvases use colored circles or dots to create color interactions that create a specific pictorial space. The edges of these dots are in some cases sharp, in other vague and atmospheric. They are brought into a harmonious equilibrium and have a strong spatial effect.

Jerry Zeniuk (b. 1945, Bardowick) lives and works in Munich. He was the subject of solo museum exhibitions at the Kunsthalle Bremerhaven (1990), Museum Lenbachhaus, Munich (1999), Kunstmuseum Winterthur (1990 & 1999), Kunstmuseum Kassel (1990 & 1999), Kunsthalle Karlsruhe (1996 & 2004), Museum Augsburg (2012), Museum Wiesbaden (2014) and Joseph Albers Museum (2016). The artist is represented by leading international galleries such as Konrad Fischer, Lawrence Markey, Annemarie Verna and Slewe.
